The Thing

Watching television and movies on the internet has gotten better over the past two years. Hulu.com is one of the places that shows some horrible flicks ,but today was not a disappointment. At Hulu.com , after clicking on the drop down menu, then clicking on the sci-fi link, it was awesome to see that John Carpenter's THING was a choice. WOW! This was the 1982 version . The special effects were way ahead of it's time. Great movie. Not for the squeamish, though.

I am back , but not yet

Don't forget to vote for Barack Obama!! It is important that things change for the better. Well, I have taken over 3 weeks off the radar and have worried my friends. I am having all of my medications adjusted. Specifically the thyroid and diabetes medications. I have also cut back on eating the bad things, and when one has a stomach like mine, cutting back can be hell. I can get irritable and moody. I need to find a balance. A lot of my problems started with my thyroid becoming under active. No amount of exercise could get me to lose weight. I kept blowing up. I would fatigue so much and so quickly there were days I couldn't get out of the bed. Depression plays a big part in all of that. When I stopped running like a mad dog years ago I remember it was because my legs would get stiff and I would fatigue so quickly. Right now as I type I am sweating. I just came from outside to pick up a piece of baked chicken leg. Sweating is an indication that the thyroid medication is doing ...

Fred Jordan Mission gets A+

Fred Jordan mission gets an a+ for their school clothing and school supply giveaway today. It was one of the most dignified events I have seen in a long time. It was great to see the kids get those shoes and those clothes at the Fred Jordan Mission. It was impressive. One thing that impressed me was the talk about the many children across the southern california region that were hepled and are being helped through the programs set up in those areas.

Fred Jordan Mission begins it's march back to truth- 5,000 kids from Southern California Region to get name brand goodies

It has been a long time coming. Many people may not agree with the way things are reported on this blog. Last year it was said that the children of skid row would be the recipients of the name brand goods , when those of us who reside in skid row know it is not the children of skid row but many children who come from across Los Angeles to spend almost 3 nights in skid row waiting for the day that the give away happens. Below is the press release that was sent out this year. Note it says southern California Children and not skid row children. Good job. Makes me want to donate now... CNBC WHAT: Several thousand of Southern California's underprivileged children receiving brand new athletic shoes at the Fred Jordan Missions' 20th Annual Back-to-School Giveaway Thousands of brand new articles of clothing donated by K.I.D.S., Lucky Brand Jeans and distributed by hundreds of caring volunteers. It is amazing that this change in how the press releases are done is happening. The absu...

Slowly returning from my bout with food poisoing

Slowly coming back from my bout with food poisoning. I won't be doing any work for anyone or returning e-mails and phone calls until Friday . Gotta force myself to rest... It was an experience. IN the hospital and out... I hate puking. I hate the feeling so it has taken me over 1 week to get back to eating anything substantial. I have lost weight , which isn't a bad thing in itself, but all of my medications are out of was sick many of them can't be adjusted correctly until I am eating on a regular basis. If it isn't one thing it is another. I also found out that trying to do anything while starving oneself for fear of that painful regurgitating is awful. When one has weak abdominal muscles it makes it that much more difficult and much more painful. And no amount of crunches will alleviate that problem. One thing I have learned, though, is that I am addicted to community service. It took a lot of work not to do anything. When I am very sick, even with a flu and a fever...
