Charlie Back was sworn in today as the Police Chief of Los Angeles. The LA Downtown News has the story as well as the photos. It doesn't look like there was a big crowd. I didn't even go. I should have but I have been staying in doors as of late. Anyway, congratulations to Chief Charlie Beck.
Charlie Beck replaces outgoing Chief Bratton and seems to have been a favorite of most everyone to fill the big shoes left by Chief William Bratton.

Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate Gordon Turner visits skid row on election day

Gordon Turner does make it to skid row on this election day. He was at San Julian Park passing out flyers and speaking to voters. Some voters got excited and asked for handfuls of flyers to begin to pass out to voters on the Nickel.  Someone had passed out flyers last night , apparently, because there were already flyers all over skid row when he arrived.
