CRA to decide on 5 million dollars in funding for downtown rail

According to folks over at blogdowntown the CRA will begin the process of directing funding to the downtown streetcar project.

The money to be voted on consists of tax-increment funding that had been encumbered as part of legal challenges over the implementation of the CRA’s Central Industrial Redevelopment and City Central Redevelopment projects. Roughly $19 million is now freed up to be programmed in the City Central Redevelopment project area. The Downtown Streetcar program is estimated to cost $90 million to complete.

Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate Gordon Turner visits skid row on election day

Gordon Turner does make it to skid row on this election day. He was at San Julian Park passing out flyers and speaking to voters. Some voters got excited and asked for handfuls of flyers to begin to pass out to voters on the Nickel.  Someone had passed out flyers last night , apparently, because there were already flyers all over skid row when he arrived.
