Well , the answer would soon be made known , but I had no idea it was going to happen this way!!!

I got to stand in front of the donors and volunteers in a place where we pretty much do our good deeds not for recognition, but because we want to and told them how important the Midnight Mission is to the community and thanked them. And in front of people such as Dick Van Dyke and Anthony Hopkins. WOW!!! They weren't getting a certificate of generosity : I was . It is a privilege to be able to stand in front of those who with their time and money also help keep many of those who I have known over the years alive. My neighbors who have not succumbed to death because of an addiction they couldn't control because they are in the Midnight Mission program.
I have written about this many times on this blog and it is now in a documentary that is being done about skid row . I mention how these non-profits find their poster child of the day to make the pitch and those of us in skid row who work behind the scenes to support their work are never even thanked at all or even acknowledged as participants in the work that goes on in skid row. Almost as if they are ashamed of us.
But Geez!!! I wished they would have told me I was going to be one of the many people recognized that day. I look like crap!!! AND it also means that what I said in the documentary doesn't hold water as far as the Midnight Mission is concerned.
We have been having some big aftershocks for a while now, according to abc7.com from the earthquake we all felt on Friday. Well, the answer is pretty simple. Today the Midnight Mission thanked me for being me in front of their donors and supporters and board of directors. It was a trap. I got a facebook message that was inviting me to the get together at 2 pm yesterday. NO problem. I can go eat , take some photos , hang out and come home. Well, when the party got to the point of the Midnight Mission CEO and other administrative staff thanking us for our involvement, Kathy Ward started to mention a person that comes to the Midnight Mission every Easter , Thanksgiving , Christmas, eats at the mission now and again and to see that the patrons are treated with dignity and also takes lot's of pictures and if they missed some photos I usually have them when they ask , then they mentioned my name.
Patrice Hopper accepting her certificate on behalf of Brookfield Properties "I only come here to help out my sister " We had to drag her up there. She was also surprised with a certificate.

Anthony Hopkins is acknowledged. He used to visit the Midnight Mission when it was on 4th and Los Angeles. When he sat back down someone asked him if he had anything to say: MY ears are blocked as a result of a cold. I swear I heard him say: "Hello, Clarice."
Well, now that a miracle has happened, I can understand why we are having so many earthquakes. I mean. My dad used to say that when something out of the ordinary happens it signals rain. I hope that is all that happens. But Geez!!! I wished they would have told me I was going to be one of the many people recognized that day. I look like crap!!!
