all good things must come to an end

Well, I have learned a lot about skid row and about myself living there. My integrity has stayed intact and I have seen that I have put blinders on when it has come to the things that one of the social service providers has been perpetrating aginst their tenants; ven against myself. 

 Housing first is coming to skid row and housing first pretty much means that those who are not engaged in the same habits that those who have those habits must endure the managers and those in the hotels who are engaged in those habits. When the majority is engaged in these things and there are other tenants who are also engaged but do narc to draw attention off of themselves, the person who is just not engaging in the same behaviors becomes the target of those who are engaged as far as being suspect at telling on them.  Oh well,.

But the biggest problem is that I have seen so much death , needless death, not as a result of drug abuse,, or murder, but because the rooms are too hot and lack of circulation and ventilation in these hotels. These rooms are toxic and they are sick. Whch in turn makes the rest of us sick.

Mike Alvidrez spoke with me the other day and I told him my problem and as I praised him for the work they are doing on the newer hotels SKid Row Housing Trust is engaged in putting together, he made mention of the older hotels, the first of their hotels to be refurbished and he was honest in his assessment. Why can't SRO be that way? 

I will not be a casualty of SRO Housing Corporation. I have options. And the sad part is I have these options because I don't drink , smoke, use drugs, and whore around. Isn't that something?

WOW! The facts are these. The things I have seen and the neglect by this Housing Provider SRO Housing Corporation is beyond egregious. 

I will write the book soon and you will be able to see just what it is they are doing and the suffering that goes on in these hotels.

But we shall see.  I have been wanting to do away with this blog for some time now. Latowncrier.com will be more upbeat and not political and more LOST and FRINGE and DOLL HOUSE oriented. I am interested in quantum mechanics , thus that blog will be full of that. I plan to get back to my education and pick up that coveted math degree and I also plan on learning how to play the banjo.  If things work out. I won't even let you know where I am living. What for? you don't need to know.

What? That's not fair!

Some of us have been regular readers of your blog since you started it. Through that whole time you have given so much of yourself and have been so honest and revealing. To now just cut it all off is not fair.

At least take things to closure. Write about your new place--describe it, tell about the food there, the neighborhood. Put some perspective on your time in Skid Row.

Don't just cut things off. That's not right. Are your readers--and friends--supposed to stop caring about you just because you're moving?

We need a separate peace, not an abortion.

Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate Gordon Turner visits skid row on election day

Gordon Turner does make it to skid row on this election day. He was at San Julian Park passing out flyers and speaking to voters. Some voters got excited and asked for handfuls of flyers to begin to pass out to voters on the Nickel.  Someone had passed out flyers last night , apparently, because there were already flyers all over skid row when he arrived.
