I am still amazed at how I am not sad to be living. Trepidation is overwhelming as in any change.
But I have learned what the inherent problems are in skid row and why things will not change. It boils down to the lessons we have seen in the recent year with the downturn in the economy . Like all industries , when there is no accountability and there is greed at the top and those who are charged with making lasting changes are only around to skim waht they can while they are there. Thorugh grant consultant fees, salaries, increasing their salaries when discretionary funding also increases , and the conflicts of interest. Well, things only fall apart eventually. The emporer has no clothes.
What has really amazed me is how the missions, those 501 c3s that have been around for years are not the culprits but serve a purpose and each one of these serves a purpose in the community. They each have attributes that are important in helping those who need help to move on. It is the housing providers that are the real problem. I can't believe I became one of the many cases in point.
But pride actually kept me here longer than what I should have . I should have left a long time ago. Ah!!!! The human condition.

Change was good for me. I have a feeling it will be good for you too. We talked once about how we're both survivors and it's still true. You'll make it through this and you'll come out better.
