Defining day

Today is a defining day in my new life. It is profound and it will be the first time in my life since the doctors found swelling in my brainstem back in 1996 that I see a way to become self-reliant. I will be traveling as well. I know I get fatigued , but I now have a personal trainer who is donating her time to get me into shape to help delay the complications of the illness I still suffer with that affects my nervous system and is causing the nerves to become demyelinated in certain areas. New symptoms are appearing and it is not good news , but I am not giving up because the finish line is not that far away. I can see the tape. I will make it and it looks like I will be leaving a legacy for others such as myself to take on new work.

Having been raised conservatively it took me almost 3 years to accept the option of receiving a disability check so that I could get the treatment for my illness. Now, after having been humbled by the experience , I am better able to show empathy for others with disabilities. The very first diagnosis was the diagnosis of organic brain syndrome. This means that my psychiatric disorder is as a result of brain injury. The other diagnosis that came with that was chronic inflammatory demyelinating peripheral neuropathy as a result of low level exposure to nerve agent. It took many years of treatment , denial , and finally acceptance of the facts and subsequent compliance with the treatments to get me to where I am today.

Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate Gordon Turner visits skid row on election day

Gordon Turner does make it to skid row on this election day. He was at San Julian Park passing out flyers and speaking to voters. Some voters got excited and asked for handfuls of flyers to begin to pass out to voters on the Nickel.  Someone had passed out flyers last night , apparently, because there were already flyers all over skid row when he arrived.
