Secrets SRO Housing doesn't want you to know about

You have heard of Megan's law , right? Well, did you know that many registered sex offenders living downtown in the nonprofit sros don't have to disclose on Megan's law website.

How many people know that there is an unspoken trust between the City of Los Angeles and these downtown housing providers to provide housing for these registered sex offenders. If one of these offenders feels that they might be in danger all they have to do is go to the central division and ask to not have to disclose on Megan's law website. All they have to do is claim they are being stalked , even if that is not the case. Who can prove it?
Skid row forever has been a place where sex offenders are free to roam and seek victims on a daily basis. How many of you remember the posts I wrote about one of those offenders who went after young latino men all over this city , lived in skid row, did not have to disclose on Megan's law website and volunteered at non-profit organizations with access to vulnerable young latino men and boys?

When I approached SRO about what that person was doing in this hotel by bringing young men , getting them high , and then having his way with them , SRO did absolutely nothing. Eventually, it turned out that person was a registered sex offender as the city began to do regular checks on those who should be compliant with their registration, they arrived one day and I happened to be walking out of the hotel and I wathced as they walked to his room with a big photo on a clipboard of him as they asked him if he was in compliance with his registration . The lapd was not very discreet.

These are some of the things people do not know about. It is as if the nonprofit housing providers have an understanding with the city of Los Angeles to allow these sex offenders to have a field day just because this is skid row. But one of the biggest dangers is that many offenders don't have to disclose on Megan's law website while living in skid row ,making the sex offenders able to traverse the city and seek out victims since no one can check to see if they are on the Megan's law website if someone was to make a complaint.

Sometimes I wonder about the wisdom of this city.

Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate Gordon Turner visits skid row on election day

Gordon Turner does make it to skid row on this election day. He was at San Julian Park passing out flyers and speaking to voters. Some voters got excited and asked for handfuls of flyers to begin to pass out to voters on the Nickel.  Someone had passed out flyers last night , apparently, because there were already flyers all over skid row when he arrived.
