I remember when SRO Housing Corporation made their efforts to secure funding from the CRA earlier this year . I remember the executive director telling me that if I spoke on their behalf that I would be invited to a fund raiser with Movie stars. I know that she was probably afraid I might be there to speak against because of the death of CLE PEters that happened as a direct result of heat stroke during the heat wave the end of summer last year.PAhleeese!!! I have been around so many movie stars the last nine years to make me sick of being around them. I was there to speak on behalf of those who are employees of SRO Housing Corporation that depended on that money to keep their jobs. I didn't see the executive director ever giving up her salary or taking a reduction in order to help those other employees. SO of course I was there to speak to make sure those employees had their jobs and also the housing I live in can not operate without them. This is just one of the many problems with those who run these organizations. They honestly are the worst at stereotyping. They treat us like trash and very paternalistic and they also try and make us feel like we don't have a life. Probably a life that entails the upper echelon of the economic spectrum within our scope of influence probably far beyond what they could achieve. .
Yet, what was asked of me was insulting. "If you speak for us I will invite you to a party with Celebrities." Please!!!!! I am a celebrity. You should be asking me if you can come to my parties.
I deal with celebrities all the time in my life now. And will probably continue to deal with more a-list celebrities as the days go on. To me it is sad that these people make money off of homelessness and dangle all kinds of things in front of us , not knowing who we really are and where we come from or even who we know. That really isn't any of their business. All it does is show their true colors and conceit because they know we live in skid row.
