This person was a resident at the Midnight Mission before he was a director. I can't believe the things he told me last night on the skid row watch walk. He said I had no idea what the Midnight Mission was all about. If I didn't know how important the Midnight Mission is to skid row , I would have never done the things I have done to support their programs nor would I have gone to a zoning hearing as a resident of skid row who didn't live in the Mission, to speak on their behalf of the Midnight Mission's move many years ago to where they are now, two days after being in the intensive care unit because of a flare up of the demyelinating neuropathy.
Maybe he sees himself as doing more for the Mission because he is making a documentary and can bring attention to the Mission . As I was telling Thomas, the director, after the skid row walk last night about certain things, that person began to tell me that I didn't know about the mission. I don't care how much I love the Midnight Mission and it's programs I will always say it is important that all of us know how they spend their money. He wants to yell at me in the middle of skid row in front of the Midnight Mission.
Maybe it is because I said that one of my goals is to make millions and donate those millions and get on the board of directors of these organizations so that we can have real people making sure that they treat the people right. He said so sarcastically that that will never happen. This is why skid row is the way it is. I have to stay focused. I will never be a non profit. I have my business starting and will not be a non profit that depends on homelessness as my bread and butter.
I know more about the Midnight Mission than he will ever know. I got angry because that person does not know the sacrifices I have made for the Midnight Mission. Last night I was reminded by Orlando Ward that it is getting close to buying that brick with my name on it. IT means I am now moving on to a different phase in my life and responsibilities.
