Workers living in skid row joyful over Central City East DASH

Central City East DASH begins service on September 4th

Due to the years of the local Rescue Missions and other social service providers sending out fundraising literature that the people in skid row are helpless and hopeless and for the most part unemployed , the many low income residents that do work who live in skid row were ignored when it came to DASH Bus Service.

Today I walked to the corner of 5th Street and San Pedro and looked South on San Pedro Street and there it was , the sign for the DASH Central City East. When I pointed this out to an employee at the corner market he came from around the counter he was serving food from, looked through the window of the store, and saw the stop. He is a veteran pf the military that works on the westside of downtown and catches the E DASH to get to work in the mornings. HE told me that now he can use the Central City East DASH bus to transfer to the E DASH on 7th and Los Angeles instead of walking there. His life has just been made easier.

The Central City East DASH bus route is a route that will come through every 20 minutes. It is a start , but even at every 20 minutes we know that this bus will be utilized and will be very busy. There has been a particular reason that DASH service was not wanted by the social service providers , many of these providers get grant money to provide transportation .Living in skid row we know that many of these supposed transportation options are inadequate or non-existent or inefficient.

I asked Jan Perry for DASH service many years ago when the MTA had it's strike, as a result, skid row residents, esp those who have physical disabilities were isolated from the rest of the city. We were abandoned. Many could not make doctor's appointments and many lost their jobs. That was years ago and finally the City is getting around to providing the services we need.

It was the residents of skid row who pushed for this service not the social service providers. The social service providers only got on board at the last minute so that they could take credit for the DASH Central City East coming through. It was the actual residents who needed this service that pushed for it.

Thanks to the Councilwoman Jan Perry , the MAYOR Antonio Villaraigosa , and Councilmember Jose Huizar for finally listenting to the people who live and work in skid row for the service..

But the thanks goes to all of those residents in skid row who worked to make this happen.

People like Librata Porter and the over 300 military veterans in skid row who requested it.

I will be putting out an unofficial route booklet highlighting where one can take the Central City East DASH bus. Stay tuned to theis blog to see where one can go and transfer.

For my dear friend Richard Feagin - Sifu Richard Feagin

For some odd reason when I heard news that my childhood friend was killed in a car accident I thought of another friend we used to get together with and sing this song and others. We were all a bunch of christian rednecks. Didn't drink , smoke, use drugs and searching for wives and not whoring around. Richard Feagin introduced me to the world of anime. HE went on to beome a master karate instructor. Who would have thought. He was a close friend that helped me work out lot's of questions I had in puberty. Girls and all that. Kept us out of trouble to be two guys who were waiting for the right girl to marry. HE leaves two young children and a beautiful wife. None of the renditions of this song on the internet even come close to the ozark type of twang we used. I can still sing like that. Raised on that Southern Baptist Gospel Music. I will give alist of my favorites. We used the banjo a lot. This is not my home On the wings of a dove- this is the version I remember growing u...

Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate Gordon Turner visits skid row on election day

Gordon Turner does make it to skid row on this election day. He was at San Julian Park passing out flyers and speaking to voters. Some voters got excited and asked for handfuls of flyers to begin to pass out to voters on the Nickel.  Someone had passed out flyers last night , apparently, because there were already flyers all over skid row when he arrived.

To those who think that Marijuana has never killed anyone

Update: once again marijuana used by sexual deviants to assault young teenagers who skipped school. When officers arrived, the men were gone, he said. "It looks like this house was not lived in," Taylor said. The girls told police they met the men at the Paseo Colorado mall on Colorado Boulevard, where they were playing hooky from school, he said. The men then invited the girls to the Idaho Street house, he added. Once there, the men brought out alcohol and marijuana and gave it to the 14-year-olds before sexually assaulting them, he said. Marijuana is addictive and it is also plain fun for many young people . John Wayne Gacy used MArijuana to lure young men into his home Jeffrey Dahmer used marijuana to lure young men he killed into his home Jaime Green, who lives at the Southern Hotel operated by SRO HOusing Corporation, uses his medical marijauna to lure young males to his room to molest them...and he is a registered sex offender that has to register e...
