Edward Fuentes paid by Jan Perry's Campaign- Conflict of interest?

Ed Fuentes, a contributor to Blogdowntown and press writer for local news at nbc local, was paid 480.00 from the campaign to re-elect councilwoman Jan Perry. This speaks to objectivity when reporting . Can someone who is a reporter objectively write articles about the councilperson of the 9th district when working for her campaign? Is it ethical to write stories about a member of the city council and claim to be an objective member of the press after receiving payment from the campaign of that person? This could be conceived as a conflict of interest and undermine the integrity of the stories being told by the reporter on many stories in Downtown that are directly or indirectly connected to CD 9.

Many stories that are written by Edward Fuentes paint a positive picture of a lot of the policies of the Councilwoman and those who have supported her in the past and those whom have contributed to her campaigns. These include many large developers in Downtown Los Angeles and other business entities.

Can we count on the stories about CD9 office from Ed Fuentes to be objective when we know that this journalist has received money from the CD9 Councilperson?

Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate Gordon Turner visits skid row on election day

Gordon Turner does make it to skid row on this election day. He was at San Julian Park passing out flyers and speaking to voters. Some voters got excited and asked for handfuls of flyers to begin to pass out to voters on the Nickel.  Someone had passed out flyers last night , apparently, because there were already flyers all over skid row when he arrived.
