LAPD caught raiding sidewalk outside the front of the LA MIssion

One of the questions that has permeated the skid row area since the inception of the safer cities initiative has been that if the safer cities initiative in skid row is working then why is there still drug selling in front of the LA Mission? A local community activist asked that question. Apparently the LAPD may have gotten the message. For the past 5 days that spot in this photo has been raided according to residents who were out on the corner of San Julian and 5th street last night. This is according to those on the street so we must take this as rumor only. AS I was walking along 5th street I did notice that there were a lot of people lighting up pipes between Los Angeles street and Maple which forshadowed this scene I was about to see on the corner of Wall Street and 5th Street. Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate Gordon Turner visits skid row on election day

Gordon Turner does make it to skid row on this election day. He was at San Julian Park passing out flyers and speaking to voters. Some voters got excited and asked for handfuls of flyers to begin to pass out to voters on the Nickel.  Someone had passed out flyers last night , apparently, because there were already flyers all over skid row when he arrived.
