This year has been a very dramatic year for those working in the field of non-profits that feed the public. This Thanksgiving was particularly heart wrenching because many of those who usually donate the feasts and volunteer at the feasts in skid row are now seeing themselves as those who need the help because of the bad economy.
The LA MISSION has their Thanksgiving day celebration the day before the holiday itself and because of the very intimate setting in the dining area I was able to get a feeling from those celebrities they weren't there for the photo ops. You see, it rained this day
and we had to crowd into the dining room of the LA MISSION to feed those who were there to partake of the Annual Thanksgiving feast
We hear it all the time. OH!!! "Those celebrities are has beens that are looking for some tv face time . They are washed out and need some attention."
Being that we were in an intimate setting, able to interact with them while they served the thanksgiving plates, I got a different feeling from them. Many of these are not washed out actors or celebrities, they are still in the game and what I witnessed Wednesday from them was something you have to see.. Many stayed until the event was over and they were very serious about their work. This one was particularly consumed with serving the plates. And he was one of the many who stayed until it was over.

The end of the event you could see this guy at one of the tables he helped set up for those ready to eat. Everytime I would try and get a photo of him at a table with people, there just wasn't time . He was busy preparing the tables. I could tell he wasn't there for photo ops and it seemed to me a little annoyed at my stalking him with the camera.
After dropping off plates he takes off to the line again. This guy and many other celebrities and volunteers that day never stopped working. Below you can see him in line again when I was taking photos of Dennis Zine. There were many other celebrities there also that I didn't get photos of serving dinner. Like I said, it was a bit crowded in the dining area.
Behind the Counter
It was rough behind the counter. It was hot. Myself, I had to sit down and eat because I was an idiot and didn't eat breakfast that morning. So my blood sugar was dropping and I was getting dizzy. That was when Herb Smith had me sit down and eat. Jesus, the Turkey was a big helping. After eating I got up to continue my work that day. Below you can see those behind the counter serving the plates on the trays. It was hot back there and you could see them sweatng.

Kojak arrives
Who loves ya Baby!!! Yep it is Dennis Zine our own real kojak who sits on the Los Angeles City Council.
Well, you just can't stand around taking photos with beautiful women. Gotta get to work. Who is that woman with the chef shirt on? Is this the woman that has been stalking me since Saturday? Everywhere I went this weekend she was there. Not a stalker, that is the Councilwoman of the 9th council district , Jan Perry. Of course she had to position herself between two handsome men. Hey, Kojak gets to serve the Turkey!!!!

Tom LaBonge was over on the other side of the counter when Pamela Bach Hasselhoff had to call him out" Who doesn't love Tom" she says, and we get this smile out of him because he was hiding behind some metal thing passing plates to the other volunteers. Don't worry we got your photo. NO anonymity for you. I am the infamous councilrazzi.
