Photos Veterans Day Steak Luncehon in Skid Row for SRO Housing Residents, employees and MIdnight Mission Residents and employees



This year was the very first time that SRO Housing Corporation hosted the Steak Luncehon on Veteran's Day. Usually they host it on the day before , the weekend before . This year it was a surprise that the Steak luncheon was hosted on the day that Veteran's honor themselves and those who are still serving in the military.

ONce again all thanks goes to Jan Perry and Geoffrey Gilbert past executive director of SRO Housing Corporation. This Steak luncheon began as a breakfast and then Jan Perry turned it into a Steak Luncheon. It is about dignity. Instead of people throwing hot dogs at us from vans like we are animals on the streets , Jan Perry knew that it was more dignified for us to sit down and eat the best in a setting that honored our service and sacrifices.DSC00134

Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate Gordon Turner visits skid row on election day

Gordon Turner does make it to skid row on this election day. He was at San Julian Park passing out flyers and speaking to voters. Some voters got excited and asked for handfuls of flyers to begin to pass out to voters on the Nickel.  Someone had passed out flyers last night , apparently, because there were already flyers all over skid row when he arrived.
